Desert Air 2024

A Solid Addition to Palm Springs’ Festival Scene
Start

The Coachella Valley added another gem to its festival lineup with the return of Desert Air, held this November 22-23. The event perfectly balances the sophistication of Palm Springs with the pulsating energy of electronic music. Presented by Splash House and Goldenvoice, Desert Air seamlessly blends avant-garde music, stunning venues, and cultural programming for a festival experience that has drawn comparisons to both Splash House and Coachella.

The consensus among festivalgoers was overwhelmingly positive. Maria Gabriela, an attendee, described it best:

“I thought it was a solid event. I loved how they didn’t oversell the event, and no matter what, there was plenty of room to dance and roam. Will be back again—truly an unforgettable experience.”

Day Meets Night, Beach Meets Aviation

Desert Air unfolded across two iconic Palm Springs locations. By day, the Palm Springs Surf Club offered a laid-back, beachy atmosphere with poolside DJ sets, cultural programming, and water activities. By night, the festival transitioned to the Palm Springs Air Museum, where an aviation-themed experience awaited. The terminal stage featured a giant projection screen, while the intimate indoor hangar stage created a more underground vibe.

Festivalgoers embraced the desert’s chilly November evenings with an eclectic mix of warm coats, sweaters, and colorful festival wear, adding flair to the stylish celebration. Local food trucks, including TKB Bakery and F10 Catering, served up delicious eats, while pop-up bars and sponsor activations dotted the venues.

A Stellar Lineup

Desert Air’s lineup was a testament to its eclectic vision, with headliners like Jamie xx, Kaytranada, and the debut of Club Heat (a collaboration between Tove Lo and SG Lewis). Other highlights included Shygirl Presents Club Shy, Slayyyter (DJ Set), and Sammy Virji. The festival also spotlighted emerging talents like Punjabi garage innovator Yung Singh and rising stars Pretty Girl (Live) and ATRIP.

Desert Air’s fusion of modern electronic sounds, mid-century Palm Springs aesthetics, and thoughtful programming offered an unforgettable weekend that left attendees eager for more. With its unique venues and curated lineup, Desert Air solidifies its place as a must-attend event on the desert’s cultural calendar.
