SUMMARY:Albert Frey: Inventive Modernist
DESCRIPTION:Albert Frey (American\, born Switzerland\, 1903-1998) helped to establish Palm Springs as a world-recognized center for modern architecture and design. He was the first architect to design a modern International Style structure for Palm Springs and paved the way for modern architecture and the architects that followed. \nSteeped in early European modernism\, Frey’s adroit handling of low-cost and low-maintenance industrial materials\, sublime desert color combinations\, and appealing geometric compositions give him a unique and permanent place in the idiom of “desert modernism” and succinctly expressed his two greatest loves—nature and architecture.

SUMMARY:GREGORY SIFF
DESCRIPTION:Praz Delavallade Los Angeles is pleased to announce To Understand Time\, an exhibition of new paintings\, works on paper and sculptures by Gregory Siff. To Understand Time is the artist’s debut at the gallery and opens at the Los Angeles location on March 30 and will run through May 2\, 2024. \nGregory Siff’s emotive artistry is fueled by his desire to connect with people. He communicates through a language of iconography that he’s created over the past two decades from personal experiences\, consumer culture\, and history. Using acrylic\, oil\, pencil\, spray and markers\, Siff’s work reflects the objects\, brands\, and characters that have compelled him to create; incorporating image fragments from reference material\, memory\, and from all things that have had an impact on him throughout his journey. For him\, these kinds of images are what connects intimate objects to memories of the past\, and dreams of the future.

SUMMARY:Before You Now: Capturing the Self in Portraiture
DESCRIPTION:Before You Now: Capturing the Self in Portraiture focuses on the enduring theme of the artist’s self-portrait\, as seen in a selection of works from LACMA’s collections of photographs\, prints\, drawings\, videos\, and installation art. Primarily featuring contemporary makers\, the exhibition is an introduction to seeing American artists as they see themselves—or as they want to be seen by their public.
