This fall, movie lovers will have the rare opportunity to sink their teeth into the cinematic phenomenon that changed summer blockbusters forever. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Jaws (1975), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is unveiling Jaws: The Exhibition—its first major exhibition devoted entirely to a single film, and its most expansive to date.
Opening September 14, 2025, and running through July 26, 2026, this immersive, multi-gallery experience will take over the museum’s Marilyn and Jeffrey Katzenberg Gallery. Audiences of all ages can relive Steven Spielberg’s iconic thriller through interactive displays, rare behind-the-scenes stories, and more than 200 original objects—many of which have never been shown publicly. Artifacts will come from an impressive roster of archives, including Spielberg’s personal collection, Amblin’s Hearth Archive, NBCUniversal, and the Academy’s own vaults.
To mark the launch of the exhibition, the Academy Museum will host a special screening of Jaws on September 14, giving fans a chance to revisit the film that earned three Academy Awards® and a Best Picture nomination. Adding to the excitement, the museum store will debut an exclusive line of Jaws merchandise, highlighted by a commemorative 50th anniversary vinyl edition of John Williams’s Oscar®-winning score—produced in partnership with Mondo—as well as posters, apparel, and collectibles.

“This exhibition will create a space where the worldwide community of Jaws fans can gather and relive the movie while giving new audiences the joy of discovery,” said Academy Museum Director and President Amy Homma. “The Academy Museum celebrates film history, and with this exhibition, we can bring never-before-seen movie experiences to a public audience.”
Curated by Senior Exhibitions Curator Jenny He, with Assistant Curator Emily Rauber Rodriguez and Curatorial Assistant Alexandra James Salichs, the exhibition follows the structure of the film itself, guiding visitors through six key chapters:
• The Unseen Danger
• Amity Island Welcomes You
• Sunday at the Beach
• The Shark’s Rampage
• Adventure Ahead
• Into the Deep
The finale explores the enduring cultural impact of Jaws, a film that not only terrified audiences but also redefined Hollywood filmmaking.
