“DESERT RAIN”
Jesika von Rabbit’s new single captures the same mood, a hi-desert longing paired with a sanguine optimism. She explains what inspired her to write the song: “As the world gets more complicated, I felt the pull to compose a song that hangs in the simplicity of a three-chord quietness, a contemplative, sad memoir, hopeful, and content”.
i have withered in the sun
i have danced in the desert rain
i have pleaded with the moon
i have forged my spirit through the pain
The track is also a bit of a return to her roots for the artist, who first broke ground with her critically acclaimed band Gram Rabbit, who had a hit on their hands with the country-fried heartbreaker, “Desperate Heart”.
Joining her on the track is her longtime partner Lee Joseph on electric and 12-string guitars. The single is the first in what will be a busy year for von Rabbit, with two EPs scheduled, the completion of an album, and festival dates to be announced. She just completed a pair of co-headlining shows with new wave legend Josie Cotton.
