MCM Monsters

JAMES BACCHI CONTEMPORARY presents Master Printmaker Eric Rewitzer
Start

Since taking to the desert from San Francisco more than two years ago, veteran Curator and Gallerist James Bacchi has continued to elevate the temperature of the Palm Springs art scene. His Inaugural Group Show, THE HEAT, at JAMES BACCHI CONTEMPORARY at the iconic The Shops at 1345 Palm Canyon was visually on fire. The exhibition spotlighted his distinctive brand of works in various media by noteworthy New York and California Artists including Marc Lambrechts, Carolyn Meyer, Lucky Rapp, Carrie Ann Plank, Will Valle, Bill Bloomfield, and Andrea Arroyo. JAZZED, a most impressive solo exhibition of music inspired works by abstract artist Serena Bocchino followed.  But it was Bacchi’s NEO-MODERNISM presentation at the 2023 Fall Modernism Show that offered a glimpse into the future of mid-century art and design, featuring artists Mark Tennant, Howard Hersh, Jhina Alvarado, Fernando Reyes and Jay Samit and selected furnishings courtesy of Jeff Holt and Peter West.

In celebration of Modernism, 2024 Bacchi will present MCM Monsters, a solo exhibition of original works by master printmaker, Eric Rewitzer at JAMES BACCHI CONTEMPORARY. This show promises to be a blockbuster!

The Artist grew up in suburban Detroit in the 1970’s.  “At 3:30pm on Saturdays, I would turn on the television and tune to Channel 50 to be entertained by the Creature Feature.  I would wait in anticipation for the announcement of the afternoon’s film and would be beyond excited to see anything from the Godzilla genre begin to play.  Long before I knew the symbolism of these creatures, I would be captivated by the sheer spectacle of it all.  They truly captured my imagination.”
