On February 3, 2024, Rancho Mirage is set to host the eagerly anticipated ‘Party with the Pink Elephant’ event, marking the city’s 50th anniversary and celebrating the recent historic designation of its iconic neon sign. The Rancho Mirage Amphitheater will come alive from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM with a captivating lineup of entertainment.
Preservation Mirage, in collaboration with the City of Rancho Mirage, played a key role in securing the full historic designation for the Pink Elephant, ensuring its permanence as a cherished landmark on Highway 111. As part of the celebration, attendees can look forward to a special performance by the Rancho Mirage High School Band, an exploration of the Pink Elephant’s unique history, and a star-studded journey through the city’s streets by Desert Theatricals. The night will crescendo with the beats of DJ Modgirl, offering an opportunity for guests to dance the night away.
Willie’s Bistro will tantalize taste buds with a custom food and beverage menu, including a full bar, available for purchase. Renowned mid-century modernist, artist, and designer John Pirman has created an original work of art depicting the Pink Elephant, with signed and unsigned copies of the 18” x 24” poster available for purchase on-site. Proceeds from these art pieces will contribute to the ongoing restoration of the Pink Elephant, and attendees are invited to make additional donations to support this initiative. The event promises a night of celebration, unity, and commitment to preserving Rancho Mirage’s cultural heritage for generations to come.
