“I’ve always been a geometric abstractionist, but I was very inspired growing up by contemporary pop art. I’ve always been fascinated from the very beginning with light, with balance, with color, with energy. It’s interesting thinking about these things, because it goes back 35 years I’ve been doing this. If you go back and look at my work, this isn’t so different than things that I was doing, you know, literally back in the eighties. It’s more refined and more skillful.
This is very much my own visual language at this point, but there’s a consistency throughout time and I liked that. The world needs joy, color, happiness and I’m not trying to make any grand statements, but you know, it’s never been more relevant, right?” – Todd Gray
