Palm Springs Art Museum is proud to announce a partnership with the Official Latino Film and Arts Festival, now in its eighth edition. The three-day festival, which is the first to focus primarily on U.S. Latinx filmmakers, will run from Dec. 9-11, 2022 in the museum’s Annenberg Theater. Over 100 films will be screened showcasing more than 200 Latinx actors, and the majority of films will be presented in English. The weekend will feature a closing reception and will culminate with an awards ceremony in the theater.

In presenting the series, the museum has formed a partnership with festival founder and Latinx filmmaker Danny Hastings and has named him an adjunct curator. Hastings created the festival in 2015 in response to the lack of representation of Latinos in Hollywood films and TV shows.

The festival’s mission is to showcase, nurture, and support the emerging creative Latinx filmmakers who produce, direct, and/or write their films in the United States. The films are presented in blocks covering such themes as coming-of-age, Indigenous roots, and LQBTQIA+ stories, and include a spectrum of genres from sci-fi to documentary to comedy. All the films were created from within the Latinx community for everyone to enjoy and embody the festival’s hashtag: #StereotypesEndHere.
