From March 4–15, the energy at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden won’t just come from center court. One of the tournament’s most anticipated culinary experiences is back as Porta Via reprises its full-service pop-up restaurant and bar inside Stadium 1.
A beloved Southern California institution — with its Palm Desert outpost opening in 2022 — Porta Via has become a flagship dining destination at the Open. For proprietor Peter Garland, whose sunny presence and community-minded philosophy define the brand, the tennis world provides the perfect stage. Each year, the pop-up becomes a gathering place where food lovers, tennis fans, and desert regulars intersect between matches.

A Tournament-Worthy Menu
For the Open, Porta Via rolls out a special menu crafted exclusively for tennis fans. Expect elevated California bistro fare with Italian influence and Garland’s signature approach: pristine seasonal ingredients, prepared simply.
Fan favorites return, including:
• Miso-glazed Chilean seabass with sautéed bok choy, sticky rice, toasted sesame, and scallions
• Grilled Ōra King salmon with roasted organic market vegetables and organic brown rice
• The New England Lobster Roll — Maine lobster on toasted brioche with house-made potato chips
• Fried calamari
• The legendary Porta Via Salad with organic butter lettuce, shaved sweet onion, dill, chervil, avocado, French feta, and champagne shallot vinaigrette
Vegetarian and vegan guests will find plenty to love, from a vegan burger to butternut squash ravioli.
In a nod to returning champions Jack Draper and Mirra Andreeva, the kitchen is also featuring:
• Steak au Poivre — grass-fed filet mignon with parmigiano truffle fries and green peppercorn sauce
• Syrniki — farmer cheese pancakes with vanilla-honey mascarpone, lemon zest, and fresh berry compote
Feeling celebratory? Oysters, sushi, and caviar service elevate the experience even further.

Cocktails Made for the Desert
The BNP Paribas cocktail program features ten signature drinks designed for sun-drenched afternoons and electric evening matches. Highlights include:
• La Piña Picante with jalapeño-infused agave and pineapple
• The New Paloma with Rio Red grapefruit soda and black lava salt
• The “Fritz” Spritz with Aperol, gin, grapefruit, elderflower, and prosecco
• The “Desert Smash” with vodka, lemonade, and raspberry liqueur
It’s a lineup that feels as vibrant as the tournament itself.
