Every month we bring you #coachellamagazinetalkradio — A contemporary art+culture podcast.

Growing up in Indio, California, Razor J is a rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist making music on his terms. The award winning guitarist first found interest in classical and rock music, going on learning to play the guitar and piano at a high level. It was somewhere in between sparking his love affair with music and studying jazz in college when he fell in love with rapping too.

“It’s called ‘Stepping Stones’ because I have these huge goals that I want to achieve, I want to do big things and great things and I will do those big things and great things but this is just a stepping stone.”

“I always, always till the day I die, I love the feeling of just ripping a guitar solo and just shredding and doing all that stuff.”

“At the end of the day, I need to tell stories, I need to express myself. I have words I got to put out into the world — and I do that as a rapper.”
