Pappy And Harriet’s had a lil #Stagecoach pre-Party and it wasn’t your average hoedown (absolutely NO pun intended). They got three of the hottest rising country Goddess to Pioneer Town’s favorite watering hole and set the stage a blaze. Lillie Mae, Jade Bird and Banditios’ Mary Beth Richardson are performing at Stagecoach 2018 and took a moment to share with Coachella Magazine which songs make them smile, cry and get in the mood. So kids take some notes and make a new county queen playlist.
What song puts a smile on your face?
Banditos’ Mary Beth Richardson- Bobby Charles always! He brings back, good feelings, good memories, good friends and his voice is like velvet it’ll put you in a good place no matter what.
Lillie Mae- Any song could do it or whom ever tells the first joke.
Jade Bird- A happy song I go to every time I’m in the car is, “Stuck In The Middle With You” by Steelers Wheel, it just gets be going man… Its a weird one but, yea yea…
Do you have a Go-To sad song?
Banditos’ MBR- Neil Young breaks my heart in the best way possible and if i were to write a song it would be titled, “Rejection Blues.” The last time I got my heart broken good was 3 years ago and it took a lot of self reflection and a lot of song writing.
LM- Gloomy Sunday, might be a favorite, oh and “Almost Like A Song” by Ronnie Milsap and “But It’s Much Too Sad To Write,” those will always get me there.
JB- Well, we got that happy one out of the way and I’m kinda a “sad girl” who doesn’t wanna say Damian Rice “9 Crimes”, it’s a bit…. u know, so I’m gonna say Andy Shauf’s “I’m Not Falling Asleep” it’s a beautiful song that always makes me cry.
What song evokes a mood?
Banditos MBR- Well this is pretty general for most people I would assume, but Sam Cook. Not any one song, it’s just his voice, oh and mix that with a good whiskey straight up and I’m ready.
JB- If I need to RAGE, I’ll listen to “Right Through You” by Alanis Morissette and I could go on all night about her. But if you want to know the real answer, it would be the deluxe acoustic version of anything, she’s phenomenal.
LM- Something/Anything by The Carpenters or how about just sing a song. In general, love is singing there for any song is real love. So sing.
