CMLA based photographer Sara Swaty
discusses her photo series ‘In Between & Outside’ with Coachella Magazine.
“It really breaks down this preconceived notion we have of what a man should be, what a woman should be, and I think that should be discussed. A lot of people are uncomfortable with these kinds of questions but I feel that through doing this work, it really creates a bridge of understanding.
It doesn’t make sense to hate what you don’t know, it doesn’t make sense to hate people that are just trying to finally be their true selves. I really hope that when people look at this work they come away… they don’t have to love it, I hope they don’t hate it, but I hope they just learn something, and really look at these people’s experiences as a sign of strength.”
